THE 1850.
Old building. New look. Great opportunity. In other words, history, style and value -- that's The 1850 in a nutshell. We took a wonderful old factory warehouse, cleaned out everything but the character, then brought in a totally 21st century design sensibility to create modern homes ready for you to make your own.
Well designed. Well priced. Well, what are you waiting for?

HISTORY with attitude.
That's The 1850. Old, but not quaint. Bricks, but not bow fronts. Take an historic South End factory. Remove the machines, but leave in the character, and add a great big dose of clean, contemporary design. Put it in a neighborhood that works for a living, yet lets you walk to great restaurants, transportation and leisure venues. When you combine old Boston history with new South End energy, the results can be wonderful. Welcome to the high-style, high-value condominiums of The 1850.

THE BOSTON TEA PARTY DIDN'T HAPPEN HERE.
BUT IT COULD HAVE.
The site of the 1850 was once water, part of the old South Bay along whose banks were built many of the wharves and warehouses that made Boston a great maritime city. Only a narrow neck of land along what is now Washington Street separated Boston from the mainland.
The South Bay was gradually filled in during the 19th century, but the area remained a working neighborhood. Our building, constructed between 1887 and 1889 on South Bay land created in 1850, has been home to a piano factory, a hardware manufacturer and warehousing companies for more than 100 years.
The 1850's story is the stuff of which America is made--enterprise, expansion and adaptation.
The latest adaptation has now created an exciting option for those who love the honesty of industrial buildings, who want to live where the city works and experience real city living. George Washington didn't sleep here, but you can.

THE 1850...STILL MAKING NEWS
SOUTH ENDLESS THINGS TO DO
What a community! Known for its studios and galleries, funky boutiques and fabulous restaurants, the South End is also home to a preeminent medical center, Pilates studio, and wholesale flower market (right across the street). Blessed with beautiful townhouses and pocket parks, the South End is also where neighbors meet in community gardens and at weekend festivals, and where entrepreneurs nurse start-up businesses in walk-up lofts.
The South End is pretty...and gritty. It's Victorian elegance...and working-class ingenuity. The South End means doing things your way--whatever that is. It's a unique neighborhood in the midst of a world-class city.
THE TRANSFORMATION TEAM
It takes a top-notch team to turn a factory into fabulous homes that preserve the best of the past while bringing in the contemporary style and amenities you want at a price you can afford. Meet the folks who make The 1850 so special.
